Problem with cr250 won't crank
  • So I just bought a 98 cr 250 from a friend. It's just been rebuilt not long ago. When I got it it ran fine. I test drove it went back a week later bought it and drove it home with no problems. A week later I came home from work went to ride and it wouldn't start. I put a new plug in it and new gas and checked everything I knew to check and it all seemed good. It's getting gas and the plug is getting spark. I have no clue what would be causing this. If someone can help me Id appreciate it.

Than it has to be a compression issue.
  • But wouldn't it of not ran at all before?
  • Not necessarily, I agree with ctmeeks2011, check the compression and rule that out. How long ago was the top end rebuild.Did it have a proper break in cycle?
  • Fuel, spark, What about air? Look for a clogged air filter or stopped up breathers. If all that checks out than check to see if it has low compression.

How long was the gs left in the carb?  clen the air filter and carb.  look for varnish,  Last time mine did this I had left a rag in the air box after cleaning the filter.
