Well, been wanting to ride for a couple years now. Been going to friends races. I am 17 years old out of Southern Washington state. I weight a good 220 pounds. Wondering if i should get a 2 stroke 250 or a 125. Afraid that a 125 would be too small. Im like 5"9. Sort of on a tight budget. Never rode before. Not really sure how im going to learn. Will i have to buy a trailer? Currently driving a Cadillac Escalade and not going to jam a bike in the back.

At your weight, I would go for the 250 range of bikes. Stay away from the four-strokes due to the tight budget, as they usually cost more to repair. You do not need a trailer as there are rack style holders that attach to your hitch that work well if you secure your bike properly. Do you plan to ride track or trail, or both?

If you have never rode before stay well away from a 2 stroke 250 or u tite budget wont last when you DO wipe yourself out as for size ther is no difference in a 125 to a 250 and a 125 is plently powerfull enuff for a learner hope this helps

As for track riding make sure your local track has practice classes as u dont want 450s ripping around when your trying to learn and alot of skills and riding experience can be ganed from trail riding as often youll find you have to think more about the right line to take and the areas arent custom setup for motocross bikes so things can get tricky

I think craigslist is your best bet, if they have a bike for 2000 email them and say I got 15 cash can I come look at it. type in the next town over on Craigslist if there's nothing in your area

250 2 stroke is alot of bike for someone that never rode I think you're better off with a 4 stroke having your vals checked or replace is alot cheaper then buying topend, I change my fluids and my filters every time I ride, oil filter 10 dollars, air filter 64 dollars you can buy a few then clean and oil them. filter cleaner and oil 25 dollars, tranny gear oil 8 dollars per qt ,motor oil 8 dollars per qt. coolant 10 dollars, then after while you have tires say 80 a piece that's 160 dollers, plugs depends what you have mine are 15 dollars, if you burn out your clutch because you don't know how to ride, few hundred dollers, riding gear, all mine was $1250 let's say 1000 dollars, bike shops charge 60 to 80 dollars in an hour for anything they do, chain and sprockets $$$ its not cheap man at your size I would say 250 but never riding before I dont know maybe 230 or atv or 150

Get a 250f first or a 125 2stroke most peopke will struggle to ring the best out of one. I regually see 450s being left by 14 15 year olds on 125s its not always about the biggest engine
