What a disappointing thing to wake up to.  I was hoping to run this with Paul one day soon.
    Has anyone heard anything ?

What is the background to this?  I bet you're less than impressed Paul...

It seemed too good to be true from the outset:  Hosting an off-road motorcycle race on the slopes of a prestigious ski resort during the summer.  I offer up great respect and thanks to the few who conceived and implemented the running of this event!  I understand it was a spectator who fell down and cut their finger (requiring stitches) and subsequently sued KLIM (major sponsor of the event) and the resort for damages and lost wages from loss of work due to the injury.  The insurance companies involved are the ones who decided that the resort owner is to blame for negligence.   That is all I've read so far, and of course I do not know the details or even if I have it correctly.

Bottom line is that the race has been cancelled.  RIP Big Sky XC

That is so shit.  I would be white hot angry if I was you.  You wonder about the future of every event when one unmitigated moron can stuff things up for everyone.

All the racers really need to find out who the original whinger was and make their life a living hell.  It's mean I know, but bugger them, If they're gonna screw everyone elses activities up through frivolous complaints, they deserve every thing they have coming to them.   Muppets.

Realistically, i guess the best you can hope for is that Karma will come around later and bite them in the ass...  Hard!

  • Maybe the organizers will be able to find another venue now that they've seen how popular it is.

The problem is that no one in their right mind would put their land up for use if there's reasonable odds they'll get sued by  some deadbeat loser for a trivial trip-over or some other minor mishap.   This infuriates me to be honest, that someones hurt feelings have ruined the whole thing.   FFS.

It'll only be people who have a close interest in dirtbikes that will let us on their land soon.

Good news!   And thanks to our representatives at AMA the Big Sky is back on!   In addition to being on, AMA has set it up as a championship event where we will compete for AMA number 1 plates in various classes!   You still can make it Dag, but the entries are going to fill up fast

You will need to qualify for this event by competing and placing in one of the listed qualifiers.   My qualifier will be the Pipestone XC here in Montana (April 6th and 7th).    I notice that there is a qualifier for you Dag at Glen Helen in March.

You have to do this Dag!   Run in the 50+B class and place in the top 10 in your class at Glen Helen and you can meet up and race with me at Big Sky...

I did a quick search and from what I found it sounds like a classic tort case. Torts are big money at times, and not that hard to get a win either if the circumstances are right. We had a big debate in my tort class in school and it came down to that yes they are usually garbage, but when they are true you need them. Class action lawsuits are tort cases. Good to hear that the race is back on and it seems to be doing better than before.

There are a couple qualifiers on the east coast as well ;)

We could make this an east-meets-west event for the forum.  There is even a qualifier in Alberta, Canada.   I put the challenge out there to anyone who can afford it....
