I tend to agree (concerning you other thread) that you need to look towards a 125cc 2t bike unless you have a good grasp of mechanical ability to repair and troubleshoot a RM-Z250/250F. At your size you will need nothing more than a 125cc 2t anyway. My son rides a YZ125 and keeps up with me on my 300, but he weighs around 80 lbs less than i do as well, hence why he can ride a 125cc 2t in very hilly, mountainous terrain. On flat ground I can ride the YZ125 we have without issues as well.
Otherwise, NZ is correct as well. Get the best bike you can get for the money you have, no matter the year. Just because it is a 2012 does not always mean anything. Some people trash a bike, while others keep them maintained quite well.
