depends on which particular models you're talking about. get the one which is in the best condition

    That would be the rm
Its 2009 and in really good condition!

Do you know much about the power differents?

I do. the 250 2stroke will have more power pretty much everywhere in the RPM ranges. at peak around 10hp more.

this isnt necessarily a good thing. more power means you need to take more care with the throttle and riding style to keep the bike in control.

A 2009 RM250? You must not be in the states since the last year here for the RM250 was 2008 if memory serves, but I could be wrong. Anyway...

I tend to agree (concerning you other thread) that you need to look towards a 125cc 2t bike unless you have a good grasp of mechanical ability to repair and troubleshoot a RM-Z250/250F. At your size you will need nothing more than a 125cc 2t anyway. My son rides a YZ125 and keeps up with me on my 300, but he weighs around 80 lbs less than i do as well, hence why he can ride a 125cc 2t in very hilly, mountainous terrain. On flat ground I can ride the YZ125 we have without issues as well.

Otherwise, NZ is correct as well. Get the best bike you can get for the money you have, no matter the year. Just because it is a 2012 does not always mean anything. Some people trash a bike, while others keep them maintained quite well.
