Wow! That's a lot of info to process!
Let's se . . . No racing, just riding. You live in Louisiana (have no idea where Ocotillo is). Leaning towards green, orange, and yellow, but you've ridden blue and red all your life. You want a 450 because you're bigger than average. Your riding style is moderate, but you like to hit the big stuff.
Gonna let the big guns handle this one. I like my little two stroke.
Believe it or not, we need a bit more info. Hahaha! A 450 is a four-stroke (4t) and buying used can be a "pig in a poke"...you do not know what you are getting and can be costly to repair if there is an issue. If you have a good grasp of mechanics, and a fair budget, then hit up a 450.
Secoondly, what is your budget? Are you buying new or used? Obviously, if you are buying new you have little worry of qucik, needed repairs. You will be paying more though. It is 6 of one, a half dozen of the other.
Have you thought about a 300 two-stroke (2t)? They are a good mix of both worlds in that they have plenty of torque for us bigger guys and you can still have the great top end hit as well. They are cheaper than a 450 in terms of initial buy (new or used) and as a rule cheaper to repair. They are also easier to repair as a rule as well. Since KTM is your first choice, look to their 300 models such as the 300 XC and 300 XC-W. I have a 300 XC-W and love the damn thing.
