Moose Tire Changer Review

Ok so Suzy gave me a Tire changer 4 Xmas.  :)  Thanks Suzy!

    image

So cing as its aboot 30 degrees F and will b 4 the next week or so I figured its time 2 mount up the Ice Tires.

The Tire changer isnt really a "changer" I guess more of a functional table. It raises the wheel up 2 a nice comfortable working height and its adjustable for those of u that live in Arizona and need it a tad lower. :)

It also has a nice little holder to keep ur tire irons in.

    image

There is a very simple 2 use wing nut to hold ur wheel in place, which IMO is the key 2 the whole thing. If the wheel stays stationary it makes wrestling with the tire a whole lot easier.  I mounted my front ice tire in record time with this Changer/Stand.   No new curse wordz were learned during this tire changing!

The only thing I would caution would b the fact that u could put a lot of pressure on ur spokes while ur whaling away with sum of the harder to mount compounds.

I also like the that there is plenty of room for ur discs and sprockets, so u dont need 2 take them off b4 u change ur tire.

A couple of quick tips 2 add is I use plenty of talc and dish soap and warm water when I change tires.
I cover the tubes in the talc and helps them move around inside the tire and may help from a direct rubber 2 rubber rub that will cause a pinch and the soap solution helps u spoon the tire on2 and off of the rim.

Overall based on wat the Moose Tire Changer is and wat it helps u do combined with the price which is aboot < $100 depending on where u shop ( http://www.motosport.com/dirtbike/MOOSE-TALL-PORTABLE-TIRE-CHANGER ) Id give it a solid 9. Id give it a 10 if it would change the tires 4 me. :/

Sounds like a win.  I'm pleased it's as good as it looks.

I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat but the freight would be a killer to here.  I've never seen one sold locally, I might have to look around now.

Good review ML. The only thing I found with mine is a PW will not go over the stud, hole to small. You have to change the stud. Other then that I like mine.

Looks cool. Would this work for a street bike wheel? Does it come with spoons or w/e hand tools are needed? Would of been nice to have like step by step process. So besides holding the wheel up and securely what else does it do exactly?

I found that a thin, yet substantial, film of grease on the tube makes it harder for the tube to be pinched and it works better than talc. Though, it is far more of a mess too.

I really need one of these tire mounts as well, and for the price they are well worth it. Good post ML.

Thank you very much I have gone through three tires this year on the 300, and working on a fourth, for the rear alone. Shows what you know, sheep shagger.

Maple, stfu. You have yet to wear the chalk off any tire you have ever owned. Don't you have a bucket to fill up?
