New dirt bike- 2 or 4?
  • So I am looking for a new bike. Right now I have a Crf150rb. This was my first bike and now I am too big for it. I'm trying to decide 2 or 4 stroke. At first I was dead set on a 4, but I am on a budget and I'm drawn to the promises of less maintenance that a 2 stroke supposedly offers. Any suggestions? I'm looking for a bike that's good on the track and for trail riding. Leaning toward Cr125r or Crf250R. Thanks

The 125/250f are good options but don't overlook some of the trail bikes like the ktm's. There built tough and can handle some track action.

  • The only thing I'm worried about is getting used to the 2 stroke. Is it hard going from a 4 to a 2?
  • The 150 ain't no kitten so I'm going to say you'll be fine, as long as you respect the bike.

  • if you are a teenager like me get a 125 or a 250 f, two strokes are aimed at jumping, and 250 fs are more of an all around bike though. two strokes are snappy and you need to be aggressive and learn to gear and use the clutch properly. four strokes are heavy and are a pain to start. but they are good for trail and track. they also have more torque but cost more to maintain/buy
  • it really just depends on your preferences my friend. do you like the extra punch and rpms a 2stroke has or do you like constant power of a four stroke? id test drive a few!!!

Thanks for the advice! I think I am going to go with the 4-stroke; I'm just more comfortable with them.
