Carb Needle Question......

Was looking at a few different sites for Carb Jet settings for a 2003 CR125R. Came across more than one site and they recommend a carb needle 22-71. Is this a part number or another designation? Also where and can I find it? The only site i can find that sells needles is one for OEM parts and I'm sure this is not a stock needle.  Any help would be appreciated.
  • You can get needles at several differing sites. I believe that number you gave is part of an actual part number. Best bet, and the way I do it, is to look at several OEM sites, such cheapcycleparts.com, and getting part numbers and then using Google to find the cheapest out there. However, not eveyone will use the same needle due to where they live based on altitude and other aspects. Where do you live? However, and most importantly, why do you want to change up your neddle and carb settings?

Live in Indianapolis. Reason I'm looking to change carb settings is that I recently bought a 2003 CR125 and am changing pipes from stock to an FMF Fatty and according to their site it's their jetting specs. 420 main 40 Pilot with a 22-71 Needle. Just wasn't sure about the needle. Trying to cure some of the low end bog. Decided to re-jet currently has 430 main 30 pilot stock everything else. Also going with dual stage Boyseen reeds. Any other suggestions are welcome. Also after inspecting the carb and a good cleaning put it back together and now their is a clicking sound when I open the throttle (not running). Sounds like the spring or something. Didn't do it before. Have an idea as to the cause of this?
  • U probably dont got the spring plastic notch in the guide.

I can breath a little easier now. Was reading on other forums talk of worn slides and bore. Which of course to me means new carb. But hey thanks for the advice I'll check it out.
