So does anyone else watch this show? If you have (or haven't) have you ever shop lifted before? Does this show give you the urge to steal?

First off when I was growing up I was very poor and one of the ways I used to get stuff was shop lifting. Mind you this was over 15 years ago, but I did it. Shop lifting was not only a means to an end but it was exciting an dangerous, and I'm fairly certain this is the reason people turn into kleptomaniacs. Now I have plenty of money and a ton of stuff (more than I need) house cars bikes ect bills are paid no sweat my house is actually paid off but during the short time I watch this show it just gives me the urge to STEAL. It quickly passes especially once the beer wears off. Can anyone relate? Please answer the above questions. And don't be afraid to tell the truth. Yes I know I'm a troll yada yada (the troll thing is as lame as a horse with 4 broke legs, get over it)

So if someone steals a loaf of bread to feed their family does that offend you? To steal from a store is significantly different from stealing from your neighbor. Its essentially a victimless crime.

A victimless crime? Who do you think runs that neighborhood store? A conglomerate? It's run by people like you and me! The people behind that store have billls to pay and families to feed. Sorry, but that has to be one of the stupidest remarks I've seen in a long time! Even if it is a large chain like Hannafords or ShopRite (in my area) - they employ lots of people whoi depend on them for a paycheck. Speaking of checks - I think you need a reality check!

when something is stolen they don't take it out of the employees paychecks. And I definitely don't work in retail so it might be you but not me.

The whole "I stole it because I was poor" argument just doesn't hold it water for me. Theft is theft.

The "It doesn't matter, Walmart can afford it" argument is another bullshit line. Walmart probably budget for a certain amount of theft and price things accordingly. It's a business risk for them so prices go up. If you want to take it to it's logical conclusion, you're effectively penalising the Walmart customers as they pay higher prices to cover it. I would suggest you're average Walmart customer could barely afford the increase. Sooooo, still a victimless crime?

To be fair, most of us on here don't consider ourselves saints (if I had a dollar for every stuff-up I've made, I wouldn't need to buy lottery tickets...) but we do have the moral fibre to know that theft is theft, no matter what the circumstances.

I know every person on here stole a pack of gum as a kid, or "borrowed " something an never gave it back or dled a song or ring tone for free. Its like whoever is with out sin throw the first stone. you must have really liked robbin hood as a kid. steal from the rich and give to the poor. i disagree with that. sure the rich have too much, and yes the poor dont have enough, but if they need something they can work for it. god can get you through anything, and stealing cant. theeves dont get blessed with more stuff, instead they get guilt. you and your parents might have worked all the time, but there is always another way besides stealling. what did your parents think of this?

Yes I should of found a job when I was 10-12 years old so I could buy myself clothes ..... not that its any of your business but my dad was a drug addict and my mom did what she could to keep food on the table. As far as how they feel about it, my dad long been dead and my mom just happy I'm alive past 30 an not in prison.

On the note of a "victimless" crime, to say stores account for loses ahead of time and it affects everyone there for it is not as such. Well that's like saying if it wasn't for a butterfly flapping its wings in Africa then there wouldn't be wind in the states, or we're all victims of local crime BC our taxes pay for local law enforcement agencies. Therefore anytime a crime happens your a victim BC your indirectly affected.

I never disputed the fact about stores pricing to compensate for theft........ you missed the point where I said don't act like the populous is a victim because of that fact..... duh. The statement about the butterfly was reiterating that concept in a way ass clowns like you can understand. I just reread what I wrote and maybe I should have worded it differently. my dad was around 8 when he started working more than 5 hours a day (he told me), my grandparents were in extreme poverty... their house consisted of 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom , 9 kids around that time (he has 12 siblings)...all this was in mexico, not in the US. when my mom was born my other grandparents didnt have a house, instead they were living with family members, my parents didnt steal or do anything like that. my grandparents tell me to count my blessings becuase none of them nor my parents had stuff like 3 generation children. just recognize jacking from people isnt right and it shoudnt have been done.

Dear god i feel like im teaching calc to a bunch of sugared up 10 year olds. Anyway so here's some facts Walmart annual sales revenue is over 400 billion, 40 billion is lost to shop lifting. So 10% . when you figure in that profit is 25% off the top so well say 100 billion. They sell on average 7.7 billion items a year. 400b/7.7b equals average of 52$ per item sold. So if you figure in the 40b in theft total revenue would be 440b /25%(profit) is 110b so the difference in the price per product would be 1.29$ so the average item cost would be 50.71$. The point is the difference is next to nothing. And to the smartass that said something like who shops at Walmart anyway , my stats say something like 1/3 of the us population visits Walmart each week.

First off fifty or 70 years ago when your dad was 8 inn Mexico.... I highly doubt they had labor laws. If your grandparents were so poor why did they keep poping out kids? That sounds like a bad judgment call. Besides all that do you honestly think you parents or grand parents are gona tell u they stole? Just like none of our parents ever smoked pot..... I'm sure your parents walked up hill to work both ways in snow up to there sombreros.
