Greetings from NY - where the heck have I been?!?
  • Hey all -

Was going to post in the OT board but, well, . . . changed my mind!  How the hell are y'all?!?!? :)  Long time no hear from!!!  DR wouldn't let me login under my old hairscarambled acct so had to make a new one.  What - no avatars allowed?

Lotsa things have been going on with me for the past 2 years - not many of them of the warm fuzzy type. :(  Anyway - How's everyone doing?  Been checking into DR now and again, but my most recent activity was way back with KK's jersey thread.  Lotsa good pics - thanks to MJ and all!  Hope KK is doing OK.

What's up with evryone?  Hey Court - still working at the KTM dealer?  Is there a Sully's challenge for 2013?  Speaking of the SC - how's Paul B14?  Started to snow in Montana yet?  Is Dave still around or did he get sandered by another bush (haha)?  Saw patillac's name re-surface a while back - think he's a college boy now.  Maple is still here, but no Chud?  (Maple's mom will be disappointed.)  Where's pop and dave hamblin?  I saw a post from my favorite dirt rider (Alex yz 250 fever) not too long ago and I see ML is alive and well.  How's Mike doing with Devoil Racing?  How's Dag?  Didn't see Brad's name - maybe he's already snowed in up there in Canada.   How's things down under in NZ for NZRider and Kiwi?   Nick still have the 'Zook?  There are a few new names  like coyotekiller and Felixsaladbar that I don't recognize but we always need new blood!

Me?  Well, Life threw a couple of curve balls in the past couple of years but I think I'm finally rounding third and headed for home (Thank God!)  I still have the little KX 100 and ride in my backyard track but don't get to ride as much as I'd like -  at least I'm healthy and I'm thankful for that!!!!!!

Anyway - I wish you all a very, very, very, happy and healthy Thanksgiving and look forward to stopping by now and again in the coming months.  Lemme know what's been going on!

NO I'm still riding my ole 300, though it is an exc model.  I entered the Montana XC hare scrambles series this summer and took the championship in the 50+ B class.  The 300 is the perfect bike for goat trails or racing.  Here is a picture of me at round 4 of the series, on the Montana/Wyoming border:

Hi Hair, it's good to hear from you.  As it happens, just the other day I wondered to myself what you're up to these days.  Glad to hear things are picking up for you again.

Yep, still Zooking it up, but I have an RMZ now.  Loving that.  Best bike I've ever owned.   Still doing plenty of riding and racing too.

Like Mike said, it's a pity this place isn't as busy as it was, it was a hell of a lot of fun back in the day...

Chud is still alive and kicking and leaves the odd comment every couple of months or so.

If I can remember how, I'll try and put up a pic later...

Hey Hair, good to see you. Sorry for any mishaps you have been having and glad your around 3rd and heading for home.

Done a little riding this year and the 6 year old grand daughter broke her elbow at the track a while back so I am in a little hot water with the mother right now but she is almost healed so things are much better.lol

Happy Thanksgiving to you also and wishing you the best.

  • Haha - glad to see things haven't changed much with you guys.

Good to hear from you Kiwi - glad to hear you're getting in a lot of seat time .  It's seems weird that it's summertime in November.  Hey Coyote - nice to meet you.  I like the 2t's myself as well - 2 KTM XCW's and now a little KX 100.

I participate in 2 or 3 other forums but this one seems to have the strongest and most loyal group of all.   Facebook def changed the way we communicate tho.   A few months ago I walked away from my $65k a year job that also paid full benefits, so now I'm unemployed and uninsured but I think (hope) everything will work out in the end.  I actually thought of a few of you - Court, Dag and ML's switch from mechanic extraodinaire to computer geek - and you all seemed to make it to the other side ok.  Thanks to all for taking the time to say' hi - it's all a part of getting back to normal for me.

  • Hey pop - you squeezed in there while I was typing away. Glad you're still here.  Skyler still riding (and flirting with the ladies haha)?

ps - sorry Paul - I don't know why I even go on the computer at night when I'm tired.  I thought your signature said 500 EXC, not 300 EXC.

He sure is Hair.lol in a good way that is. He is always polite. He is also still riding and doing good. He says he is ready for one of them orange bikes, I just tell him you need to talk to your mother.

  • ok,  i didn't realize you were still a neophyte.  when you get to experience a 500cc 2t you will understand my introduction.  lol
  • Nuh-uh!!!!  I'm an ol' lady (55) who is extremely happy she can still motor around a bit.  250 cc's were enough for me and now the 100 is just fine!
    imageimage
  • oh,  i certainly didn't consider that demographic.  you should be able to comprehend my idiotic introduction then.

Hair is being a little modest, Coyote, she's better than she makes out to be.   She even got into the magazine a couple of years ago.

  • Heyyyyy Alex!I  Is that you lapping those riders at the end?  I remember some of your earlier vids and am very, very impressed with how far you've come.  You should dig up one of those old vids and do a before and after things. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving - mine was nice and quiet and I'm happy about that.  I know most of you like FB but It's still nice to touch base here now and again.  Thanks for checking in!

  • Sorry Maple, it was a Reader's Ride article and I'm pretty sure those aren't posted on the website.  I think Nick was referring to a Weekend Warrior article I wrote a few years back.  No pics of me, just words.

It's weird - I don't remember submitting both articles - just the one about the Dirt Wise school (which doesn't have my name on it), but they have one I wrote about vacationing at Highland Park Resort that I don't remember submitting (that does have my name on it).

  • The link worked fine.  So, what is that . . . part of a trail system? Logging/Fire road?  The trail tightened up at the end, but at 3:12 it looked like you were about to go over the cliff!!
    imageimage
  • Trust me kiwis long been "over the cliff"

Basically a trail system over some private land that is to tough to farm.  The boys I go out there with know all the nasty tracks which are the ones that I prefer.   At 3.12 I knew I could look out over the coast so I hopped up there.    The tight stuff at the end is really good fun, there's quite a lot of that out there.

As it happens, we're going out there next weekend for another play.  The boys were talking about stashing some gas at the coast and riding out there and back.  We have permission to cross the properties involved so it should be good.

I don't have the patience to edit vids, my mate loves it though and sticks them up on his FB.   I just take the film for him.

  • Hi again, Hair! You're good at remembering everyones names and what they do! My truck consumed my life up for a little bit there, I was..am, still riding my Honda but modding wise, the truck took over. Its a 2004 Ford Ranger that came stock to me..but shes purdied up now. Added some rims, some lights up front, tint, stickers(of course!). Still h ave to lift it and put some good tires on her. :)
Glad to see you kept your bike through the hard times, its what makes all of us on here happy..going for a short rip! And no, we have no snow. Not yet..I'm waitin' on it though! My Dad bought a Hummer H2 last year, so we have been quite busy offroading with our fellow Hummer guys. We get ourselves into all kinds of problems..hehe!

Some videos of my recent adventures..*Note: I get NO where near the height Alex does.. :( ahaha * If you care to watch, or are bored one night.. :D

  • That's a 2004?!?  It's in amazing condition!  Watched the hummer vid (yawn) - (no offense meant).  Watched most of the dirtbike vid - that was much better!
    imageimage
  • Haha, thanks Alex! And I know, I'm torn. I really want it higher. But when/if I do lift it, there will be 31" or 32" tires on, so it will even out the look i think!

And thanks, Hair! I keep er clean. No offense taken, it is a slow video..but I guess to those of us who wheel a lot, we look for what we can over come, the saying for any wheeler "Low And Slow" Low meaning the gear. And thanks for the watch on the dirtbike vid! me and Dirt Dont Hurt will be meeting there hopefully next summer for a ride day.
