Locked tires
  • Yes to both. Kickstart goes all the way as normal, and makes funky noises. Will start for a few seconds then die.
  • I bought a used RM65 for my son. He has rode it 4 days, used one tank of gas. Today it locked up, slid to a stop. Now wont start and while trying it sounds different. All the fluid levels are fine. I changed the oil and it was dark grey not overly. It had plenty of oil. I am not a mechanic,{single mom} what could make it lock the tires while riding and now not run?

Does the kickstarter push down all the way through? Does it make funky noises when you try?

I wouldn't start the bike or even push down the kick starter until you fix it. Don't wanna bugger up your cylinder or sumthin even more costly. U coulda done sumthin like cracked a piston or a ring or who knows....

  • Ok, Thanks
  • I just took the top apart. Cylinder is fine, rod is fine, crank shaft looks fine. while open we slowly worked the kick start and everything turned without any issues. No grinding and hanging. This is my first time working on a bike. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you check the compression before you took it apart?

Did you put oil in the gas?  If I were you I'd take it to someone who knows a little something about bikes.
