  • My 2007 rmz250 does not start. The coil pack and plug spark spark when plugged into different bike. We think we've narrowed it down to cdi or magnet trigger in case. Anyone have anything thoughts or specs on anything need helpASAP!!!! Thanks allot

magneto/stator would be my guess. get some impedence readings of the stator windings.

  • Where can I get those readings

with a multimeter on your own windings. post them up or compare them to the specs in the manual if you have one and it'll give you a good indication of the condition of your stator

  • there is voltage to the coil, so the primary is producing power, whether the coil is triggered, that it's the question...any thoughts

yea,. test the stator windings. theres the trigger pick up, should be around 300-500ohms. and the magneto winding which should be between 5-50ohms at a guess

  • The pickup is bad. Is there anywhere I can get just the pickup instead of having to buy the whole magneto assembly?!

before you do that, did you check the wiring all the way down to the pick up? if not then try probing the pick up right at the winding to eliminate the wires as a potential fault.

out of interest, what reading are you getting on the pick up?

I dont know of any place that sells just the pick up winding but i've never really searched either

  • Yes we eliminated the writing as a problem and I don't remember what threw readings. If I remember correctly, either we were getting power or no power. Which would explain the reason behind the bike dying when riding. I have found out they were out there on the internet, just wondering if you or anyone knew off the to there head to purchase a quality one
