    Hey guys.

I've just been charged with organising the christmas fun day mx event for our local club and was hoping you guys could hit me with some ideas of fun events I could organise for the day. I have access to a flat paddock and a small piece of hill country. the only restriction I can think of is that it has to be reasonably safe

dont be shy, post up your ideas please

We do pony expresses at our local MXs, they're great fun.  I wasn't there, but last month they did a father/son pony express on the kids bike which was a lot of fun by all accounts.

Van races are fun at the end of the day but they're getting few and far between, these days.  LOL

Our club is having our Christmas MX in a couple of weeks and they reckon they've got all sorts of silly races for us to do.  Gonna be heaps of fun.

How bout a moto tri  (two person teams) with some interesting events
    Crab crawl (
    ) for 20 meters
Wheelbarrow 20 meters each way (
    )
then a one lap moto for each rider on the team (have to use the same bike so rider swap)

Then there are the vote your ugliest bike,  gear contest

The iron man rides however long you need to make it

Poker run just deal out cards at check points best hand wins

    Wheelie contest

You have to have a best "moto" theme cake contest.

For the kids if you have a "healthy" (read fat) friend let them ride in in a Santa outfit.  Nothing like sitting on Santa's 450 to make a Christmas wish.

  • those circle things are fun. there is a natural one on my Dad's place that we have played on since we were kids. its just a natural ring of deep sandy soil @ twice the size of the one in the video.
  • i just looked at that video once more and the one on my Dad's place is even bigger than what i said. it is probably at least 3 times larger and it is big enough to get a little speed up and drift the rear wheel. i do not know what geographical forces formed it but it is a ring of sandy soil where there is no other sandy soil around. when we were little kids we always called it the place where the moon broke away from the earth. at any rate i recommend a large sandy circle rut that is large enough to drift a little in.
  • chasing cars can be fun too. you need a section of terrain next to a road such that while passing the car on the road the people in the car all say "look at that dude on the bike!!". You can devise a number of games from this. yes it gets boring around here. lol!!!
  • Maybe a keg stand for the kids?

a balloon smash event, where the pilot on each bike has a balloon taped to their helmet, and their passenger has a cardboard "bat".   Place all contestants into a circular arena and get them moving.  The last rider with an intact balloon and his passenger win.

a slow race event, where you have them see how long it takes to get through the course.   This works better if you have a downhill slope, and you need to set the rules so that they at least have to keep moving.  A complete stop also stops the clock.

a backwards tug of war, where you link to riders via a strap (to their bodies) and face them in opposite directions.  The object is to not get tugged off your bike when the flag drops

doing good Maple, thanks.  We just had the 2012 awards banquet for the Montana XC series and I will be doing a write-up on it at the end of the week once I have taken all the pictures...

We also did slalom and 2X6 teeter totter (with other obstacles) sections built in.   Kinda like enduro cross but much shorter course and as a timed event.

The dad son ride is a great idea, done them before but don't limit it to dad/son because some might not have a dad there.
