Just joined the forum today. I have a mint condition 1987 xr200 that I am having a couple issues with. I was riding the bike around as usual today for about 30 minutes in the yard. I started off in the woods on a slow ride examining the trail for whitetail deer antler sheds from last season, this lasted aproximately 15 minutes. Then I headed through the yard and ended on the road for about 10 more minutes. After taking the bike to about full speed for 10 seconds I was headed home. Did one last lap around the house and the bike quit out, back tire locked and slid through the grass. After a couple kicks I decided to leave it where it sat for 4 hours to cool.

When I returned I kicked the bike over and it started and immediately made a strange noise and shut off. When I went to kick the bike again the kick starter was locked up. I rolled the bike 5 feet, the kick starter freed up, kick started it again, same strange noise, and shut off. If i push the kick starter slow there is a nasty grinding abnormal sign.

This is the extent of my findings today. Anybody have any information for me? I realized the engine is pretty well seized or blown but am wondering if there is any hope because my kickstarter is not locked up like I am reading it should be.

I am also wondering if I was to get rid of it in the current condition what do you think I ask for? Also im in CT if anyone is interested in purchasing it let me know.
