YZ125 project
  • I'm trying to do a project bike with a 92-97 YZ125 motor that I found on CL for 100 bucks, and put it on a 95' Suzuki RM125 frame... they're basically the same bike... does anybody know for sure if I can interchange the motor and this frame? I want to know before I buy them, the frame is 100 bucks on CL. Seems like a good, fun, cheap project. Any help/input? I'm not an experienced mechanic

  • You may have to realign the motor mounts and such, and you may have to retro fit a few other parts as well such as the rads and tank mounts, to anme a few, but a good welder can do that for you. It may work out well, but it could be a right pain. If nothing else, you would have to starting points for two projects later on. To me it is a win, win situation really.

Though, before you go to cutting and welding I would take a good long look at what would have to be done so as not to fully knacker the frame.
