2013 YZ450F?? DO I NEED A PRIEST? LOL!!!!
  • from the bench racing i heard the 450f tracks straight thru corners and must be harder to slide around a corner than other bikes.  in tech happy motogp they know it slows you down to drift.but in motocross it is still frequently seen.  i like to slide so i would probably still prefer my yz490 which is the king of sliding around corners of all time.

I dunno, i've had a pretty good go on a 2011 yzf450, i managed to slide it pretty well when needed/wanted. 4 strokes smooth strong wide power delivery makes drifting through corners MUCH easier IMO.

  • of one thing i am sure.  stewart wasn't any the worse for riding it.  he proved that quickly on his attempt at racing on a suzuki this year.

did you notice that they didn't lump your YZ490 in with the TM400 as bad bikes of the past?   Looks to me like your anti-misinformation campaign worked   ;)

  • Actually it is absurd to give the YZ490 such a label considering the accomplishments of the bike with various riders such as Glover and Everts.  Just as it would be absurd to give the YZ450F any sort of bad label simply because it remains unproven.  Whatever Stewarts problem is ,it definitely was not the YZ450Fs problem and i think it is sad to still have not seen a serious campaign by a top rider on her to fully test the design.

I love my 2011 YZ450F. like pro rider/tester pat foster said "the new era of YZ450F's do everything really well, they may not be best in any class such as the motor or cornering but this bike does everything really well overall, which the other 450's dont seem to be as even". "One thing I believe though is that the suspention/chasis design is really well, its just flows". I can run my suspension a bit softer on rougher tracks with big braking bumps and know the bike is not gonna buck or kick me anywhere". Anyways thats just part of his review but i absolutely agree with everything he said, not just becuase i own one.

Of course its because you own one Alex!!!  LOL!!   We can all see that, but I don't disagree with you.

I reckon all the current crop of MX bikes are pretty sound, there's no such thing as a bad bike these days.  I'd have a new YZ450 no worries.   The wife would have issues with a new bike at this point though, unfortunately...  LOL
