95' RM125 chassis - 92-97 YZ125 motor: PROJECT
  • Hi guys, I don't know a thing about frame sizes or motor similarities, but basically here's the deal. I'm buying a project bike, and I found a 92-97 YZ125 motor on craigslist for about $100. I then found a 92 or 95 RM125 rolling chassis. I want to convert it to a yz125 and completely restore it, and eventually resell it. Can I do this swap? The frames look about the same size and everything, and I think I might work. I'm no expert, but some input from somebody with experience would help. I'm eager to learn, don't be afraid to write a book on what to do! Also any tips, suggestions, and anything else would help!
    Thanks!

Id say yes this can be done just depends on how much time and effort your willing to put in. You may have to Fab up something for the motor mounts to work. You'll need all electrical components to match the engine and most likely Carb airbox power valve reeds ect to all match motor. Only issue I'd be weary of is making sure front sprocket and rear line up right.
  • Thanks for the help man, not into doing any welding or anything, looking like this won't happen!
