2005 ktm125sx having problems warming up
  • My 2005 KTM 125 sx seems like it takes a ridiculous amount of time to warm up compared to other bikes. I let it idle with out touching throttle for 2 or so minutes, but when i get on it still is like it's cold! I get to where the power band should hit and it just sounds cold! I have to rev it up with clutch al the way out then it finally will hit the powerband. I'm not sure if there is a problem, thanks for your time, and please help me figure this out! - Joe

letting the bike warm up while idling will leave excess oil in the cylinder, then when you try to rev it the oil is partially fouling the plug which causes it to run rough like its cold.

I prefer to warm up my 125 by riding it round at low then mid RPM and medium load so it doesnt oil foul.

  • Make sure you have a good plug, clean oil, clean fuel, clean and oiled air filter. If this doesn't help at all, take apart the exhaust and pipe, there might be something clogging it!

If you are above 1,500 feet elevation, go one size leaner than stock on the pilot jet.
