    Hey Everyone!!!

So my absolute favorite race in the world is the Baja 1000….and it's coming up very quickly!!  This year I have the privilege of chasing for one of my friends, and his team…they are all from the East Coast, and this is their first Baja Adventure…help them out by buying a sweet shirt (my name is even on the back as support crew!)

Also, I will be a secondary pit for my friend Kevin while he does his SOLO campaign this year!  Guy is nuts, 1200 miles on a motorcycle…but if anyone can do it he can!  You can purchase his shirt through my paypal if you want to support him :)

i could handle the 120 mph ,  its discovering the large holes in your path at that speed that spooks me.

i top my yz490 out almost every time i ride her and she does like 88 mph right now.  i don't do this on rough terrain, though.  i would have a problem if the terrain were too rough.

ya know, with a flux capacitor you could time travel at those speeds!

lol,  we've been doing maximum warp speed ever since we were pups here in south Pott. County.  but its all smooth terrain with few surprises so its not that big of deal.  i'm fixing to swap trannies in my yz490 which will give me 100+ mph capability.
  • The fastest I have had my 300 up to was 79mph, or so the speedometer said, and I am not sure how well that is calibrated. Also, this was on asphalt too. I have had it around 42mph on rough surfaces, but there are too many corners to get any faster before I have to slow down.

I would probably enjoy Baja 1000, but 1200 miles on a bike is pretty rough, no doubt. That is some seat time for sure. I hope you and yours do well Court. Good luck to all those racing.

  • years ago i seriously considered entering one of those turn the throttle on and leave it there races out west(but not anything long like baja) until i started calculating what such an endeavor would cost,  i didn't even check the prize money because i couldn't be sure of any success in the race.

There are teams who will reach speeds over 100mph out there on bikes...you have to when other times you're only going 30mph.

Had a planning meeting last night; getting so excited!!!

  • as it usually turns out.  even the things i thought i knew about baja are wrong.  i will have to research this.  i thought baja was 98% 120 mph across the desert while praying Rosaries that there no sink holes over the next ridge.

Most of it is very high speed…some places though, like the summit, are slower going.  Average speed across the whole race for is about 45mph (for a **pro team).

Out of curiosity, what do the pros average?

FWIW,I reckon an average of 45 mph is hauling.

    Whoops!!!  45mph is average for a PRO team…I'm sorry…typo!!

I think last year the JCR team averaged about 49mph….and they were the ones who won. haha

Even still a average of 45-50 is ridiculous when you account for how fast they had to go for extended amounts of time to make up for the slow sections. Either way solo baja 1000 is my dream, although i doubt it will ever happen lol
