You'd be surprised GT theres some 125's out there that kick, get one tuned and jetted, running clean, open it up and they lift up on their own, mine fishtails and pulls like theres no tomorrow in the powerband.
    Then theres the 500

I've seen several guys at the track doing jumps and things on 125s that just plain old embarrass me on my YZ490.

Probably because 125s weigh almost nothing compared to your 490 and are easy as hell to jump.

My 490 only weighs 230lbs sopping wet.  I don't know how much a 125 weighs but it can't be that much less.  The fact of the matter is that even back in the day I wasn't the world's greatest rider and I dang sure ain't now that old age has reaped her vengeance on my indiscretions of youth.  LOL!!!

125's are under 200lbs which imo is a big difference. i helped a guy pick up his 250f when he went down at the track and it felt way heavier than my 125 when i pick it up. and 250f's are roughly 230lbs. 30lbs is a fairly big difference and in tight technical stuff its even worse, out in the open it may not be all that bad

My friend I have no doubt that your 125 has impressive power.  But give in to the dark side and learn the true nature of the Force,  Go get yourself a 1985 or newer YZ490, KX500 or CR500.

30lbs is a big weight difference.  Perhaps that is part of why they fly so well.  How much does a modern 250 2t weigh?

If they weigh 200 dry that would only be <220 wet just guessing.  I will have to look 230lbs might be the dry weight on my 490.  Its been so long that I can't remember for sure.

I think you should go weigh your bike then, because they weigh more than 200 unless you trim a ton of shit off of them.

  • CR250RR IS SICKER THAN YOUR 125. Weight shouldnt matter because the bigger the bike the more hp it has so therefore the horse power makes up for the extra weight.
  • My cr250 destroyed my knees doin a wheelie. Got the worst scrapes when the powerband kicked in on a 4 gear wheelie. She's a beadt
