08 rmz 250 will not start in cold weather
  • I started my bike in cold weather and it started with 1 kick and after 2 minutes on choke I took it off choke and opened the throttle and it stalled and it will not fire. it has fresh fuel, air filter and plug but the plug seem dry like it is not getting any fuel. any ideals? the bike only has 20 hours of ride time.

did you try putting the choke back on?

  • I second what NZ said ^^^^. You might also try letting it idle a while longer with the choke on. When you do decide that it has idled long enough and take the choke off, you might want to revv the motor just a tad while at the same time pushing your choke in. With my experience if you revv the bike really hard after pushing the choke in, it will tend to die due to the carb possibly becoming flooded. So you might want to be a little more easy with the throttle input after pushing choke back in. But then again this is what i do on my Yamaha 426 so it might not be the same for your bike. Hope this helps...

2 minutes of idling is ALOT of warm up time for a 250f.

  • thanks for all your replies, I checked the float and it was stuck in a half way position. this bike does not seems to run well in weather under 40 degrees. when I ride at indoor arenas in the winter the bike always seems to be temperamental. when I ride the bike in the summer it rips.
