Newbie here! Lookin for good beginner bike..
  • Hey, just joined tonight..So I rode a pit bike for the first time the other night at a friends, has a kick starter which I got first try and had no issues with starting, clutch and shifting gears I picked up in minutes...I'm hooked and gonna start riding, always wanted to anyways and I'm not getting younger..so here I go!! I will be 30 yrs old next month, female, 5'6, 120 lbs, toned and fit and strong for my size...plan to trail ride mostly on friends property (30 acres), backyard type stuff at home..race a little(not professional though) when I feel the need for some speed, :p lol! What would be a good beginners bike? From what I've read and researched so far, seems maybe a Yamaha TTR125 4 stroke would be a good choice? I've grown up in a shop my whole life (father is a mechanic, owns his own shop) so I know a few things and will have him help with the maintence too until I learn the ropes ..thanks!! :D
  • TTR125 would be a good choice if it feels right - I suggest going to a local shop and sit on one. Not sure what price range you're working with, but if there aren't any affordable deals on a TTR125 I'd just check out craigslist in your area for good deals on any decent running trail bike and actually go and sit on them. Get a feel for which one 'feels right'.. if the bike feels like an extension of you, then that's the one that will teach you the most and be the most fun to ride. Just my 2cents. Good luck :)

That's a great bike :) If you wanted to go Honday, try the CRF150F, or if you wanted to go Kawasaki, try the KLX140L :)
All would be perfect fits for you. Ride on!

All good choices and if you are going to buy new try and buy on Black Friday. Believe it or not that's one of the best days to buy a car or bike. At least in Michigan anyway.
