1980 RM 250
  • Greetings. I am new to the forum. I grew up riding a YZ-80 and recently picked up a 1980 RM 250. It is mostly complete, but the left side engine crankcase is broken by the clutch actuator. The previous owner screwed a metal strap into the crankcase and it almost holds things steady, but the clutch feels horrible as a result. From web surfing, it seems that when the chain comes off, this housing was frequently broken.

I have started looking for a new left side crankcase, but so far am coming up empty. I read somewhere that the RM 400 crankcase is the same. The Suzuki part number is only one number off 11300-40821 v. 11300-40831 (that is the whole assembly). I might be able to have it welded, although a weld fix would probably require machining at the end of the day.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!
  • use jb weld i have used it on about 3 different crank cases before and last for years you can even use a dremmel with grinding tip to mold it into peffect shape jst repaired one 2 weeks ago
