Pit bikes
  • Im looking into pit bikes as something fun to mess around in the snow and other stuff.I remember seeing a pit bike track on this forum a while ago. Most of the pit bikes I see are 4-strokes, is it possible to make a kx65 or ktm 65 a pit bike? Is anybody on here owned and bulit one before? Also would it be better to make your own out of say a crf50 or ttr50 than buying a pitster pro or an ssr brand?

  • thanks adam :) yes you can make 65's pit bikes, there actually quite fun so you can go that route but as far as after market big boy parts i dont know if there is anything, like suspention wise for a bigger guy. Pitster pro's race models are very nice but some of there lower models are ok. So before you buy send me the link and let me check it out, SSR's if you looking for just a mess around no jump kinda bike its perfect! there cheap $300-$600 models are just junk as far as being some what rough on. People say SSR's uper class race bikes are great but i have seen to many broken frames on them at teh track and stuff to believe other wise. If you want something that will last you forever and you can constantly keep upgrading it with parts a CRF50 is by far the king of after market parts cause they have been around since like 1999 or 2000. TTR's just came out in 2006 so the after market section is not as big but there is still alot of parts you can get for them. I know for a fact the TTR50's stock vs a CRF50 stock the TTR50 is faster outa the crate. 2 of my friends have tested this. anyways i would look into the CRF's or TTR's you will just be better off in the long run as far as pit bikes. I love my built up TTR alot. :)

  • a stocker just depending on the year will run ya about 400-800 depending on condition is how you find a price for stockers. With ones with bore kits, usually if they have a big bore kit they have alot of other stuff done to them like bars, tall seat, ect... if one has a bigbore kit make sure its a nice one like 2 bros racing, kitaco, etc... if it has a trail tech, trail trial big bore those are the cheaper kits that people will try and talk up like there something special. :) big bore CRF50's will runn any where from $650-$1200+ cause like i said if they have a bigbore usually more is done to it.

here is a few to give example in my area, you have to make sure they are a genuine honda tho, cause so many people are liars and try to sell knock off crap as good stuff so just be careful.

  • yea that pitster pro is definatley one of the cheaper models, see how the swng arm is dont get a swing arm thats curved like that, pister pro makes ones with straight style MX ones that are alot better. well i can tell you exactly how much a full modded TTR or CRF goes for cause there are cheap and nice parts for both, my TTR50 which is almost fully modded has like $2000+ into it, cause it has all the name brand parts by GYTR, 2 bros, etc.... the CRF50 the yellow one you found looks like its already started that would be definatley one to look for plus you can always talk him lower. :) its all in what you want to spend, if i was you i would go with a CRF50 just cause the after market section is alot better cause you actually have a choice wheather you want to spend a little or alot on parts, all the parts for the TTR50 are the high quality shazit and it adds up fast. :)

  • yes there are tons of different lengths swing arms, i know on Honda50's all kinds of brands make striaght style MX swing arms like on your 125YZ. For TTR's only red barron, BBR, and sano make straight styles for it and those are all $$$$$. i would just keep with an "A" style swing arm style for 50's. for TTR's and CRF's there are plenty of brands that ,make afternarket "A" stley ones, i am looking at the 2 brothers racing +2-3 swing arm, it adds 2-3" of travle and length in the rear, really cool! :D and pisters are anywhere from $700-$3000 just go to their site and look around. :D
