KX125- what oil to use in the gear box.
  • Hey guys I am new to dirt bike riding, I have a 1996 KX125 and it is leaking oil from the right side of the engine, (where the kick starter is) we have fixed the leak now and I was wondering what type, class and rating oil to use in it, I read the manual and it said 10w 30 or 10w 40, can I use normal car oil in it with the same rating or not?

no you should use a motorcycle specific oil.

You can use 10w 30...but 80W gear saver is some really good stuff...thats what I use.

Definetly get motorcycle oil. If you get car oil it can screw things up internally.
