Some of u Digital yungins out there may not believe this but WAY back in the stone age they had a thing called VCR's :)

Well I've got a pile of old VCR tapes mostly from about 15 years of Hillclimbing and general screwing around.



So I thought I would buy myself an early Xmas present and picked up a cheap VCR-DVD recorder so I can slowly convert all my memories to something more modern. ;)


So I figured I'd start with one of my favorites!! B)

This is the 2001 Monson Nationals. This run was good enough for 2nd place out of two days of racing. :) The guy that beat me went 2 tenths faster and looked way cooler. hahhahha :p

That was too , too, cool! Can't wait to see some more.

hahhahha my daughter calls that ride "Fly like an eagle" cuz at the end I'm flapping my arms like a bird! :p I was pretty high up there. The bike landed on it side and I landed on top of if it. i was standing on the engine with my arms out like I was surfing. :D

a lot of the big-bore bikes need 2 have external starters becuz the compression is 2 great to use a kicker. just like with dragbikes.

they use a starter from a truck and weld a nut directly to the crank shaft.

I set my bike up with low compression so i could still kick it. hillclimbing is a sport where its difficult 2 have a bike thats perfect 4 all hills.

the big bores would get me on some flat out straight shots, but i had a slight advantage in some tighter chit with a little bit less compression.

plus i didn't need to lug around a starter and battery cart. :p

This is at a sandpit near my house. I had a 1983 XR350R. (yes, a Honda :p )

But if ur gonna own a honda, this is what u du with it!! :D

I switched to Yamaha when Honda fell off the podium! :D

U really had 2 b there to appreciate how steep it really was :

looking down from above it was difficult 2 c the whole hill. it almost curved in under ur feet. 8)

This the 1999 Gunstock Hillclimb held during bike week in Laconia NH.

This roll was on local TV for about a month. :D

It even made the opening scene of the BIG SKY Laconia Video :)

I can see why you chucked in the towel with quads after this ML. It adds a nice touch how you tried to save it then thought better of it and got out of the way.... I would imagine the quad was fairly bent when you scraped it off the ground at the bottom?

I was sure it was going into the crowd. I think they did too. That was awesome.

I'm on a Suzuki 3 cylinder 2 stroke crammed into an Yamaha IT400 frame :p

here u go Dag. Not everyone with a big bore used at remote truck starter. :D

This big bore was started by a chain saw!! :o
