ok eric? and....? it is doing it on purpose if he is over revving it, but ussually rev limiters don't kick in at rpm's that a normal rider will hit. his powervalves may be gunked up..

Did you clean the main jet when you cleaned the carb? Also what is the plug reading? Does it just Shut off or bog and die?

  • it bogs then let off throttle and it runs till you reved to shift to next gear or rev in neutral over and over either way riding or sitting

not getting enough gas.....too much air. Needs jetting problem solved. From what U say it needs a bigger main jet. Possibly a different needle.
Have you checked the reeds lately???

My son's 2001 Husky CR 125 does the same thing... starts great, runs great 1st, 2nd gear under acceleration, then bam, it bogs, like the kill button is held down ... until an undetermined speed... and then comes to life again. I fail to see how a main jet could cause that...a rev limiter sounds more plausible as the symptom seems electrical in nature... dying under throttle and then down. When I figure it out, I will reply on it.

it doesnt have a rev limiter. the main jet does it because its flooding the engine or its not giving the engine enough air/fuel to have the throttle response & power it should

it may not be getting enough air. did you over oil your air filter? squeeze any excess oil out of the filter if you did and make sure it's nice and clean. Just taking a stab at the problem....I know how things like this can be maddening

oh and I had a problem cause I plugged a hole on the carb thinking it shouldn't just have an open hole...but it was a vent to the bowl and created a vacume and it wasn't getting enough fuel.
ya I know that's a stupid thing and yes what I did was stupid but I'm learning as I go lol I'm actually quite mechanically inclined...me fix anything with big rock and branch! RAWR!
