Pants/Knee guard issues
  • Hey guys, I'm a newbie and need some help. I bought some Fox 180 pants 1 size bigger (I wear a 33 waist, so I bought a 34) and they fit great in the waits, even with my jersey tucked in. Problem is, when I put my knee/shin guards on (Alpinestar Bionic) it makes my pants so tight that I cannot move my friggin legs, let alone swing one over the bike, and when I have my boots on the pegs it feels like the knee guards are going to rip right through the pants. Should I buy a larger size pant (36) and hope there is enough additional material, or should I take back the Boinic knee/shin guards and buy something thinner? I bought the Boinics because I liked the hinged knee with the additional top strap.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

It seems like you should try different knee pads. Most moto pants are made to accommodate knee braces/pads.

  • Cool... thanks guys. There is definitely plenty of extra room in the knee before I put the guards in, so the Bionic's must just be larger than the norm due to the hinge and thick plastic...
  • **Update**

I took back the "Bionic's" and bought the "Reflex" model instead... they fit in the pants really well. I think if someone wanted the easy movement of the hinged Bionic's they would have to wear them outside of the pants.

    Thanks again fella's

dude, good knee pads are essential. Do not go with a smaller knee pad because they do not fitt under your pants. alpinestar makes a great knee pad if you are going to change though. If all else fails, I wear over the boot pants now and love them maybe thats a choice for you.
