New rider Honda 150r vs. 150rb
  • the rb should only be about $300 more new, but u cant put bigger wheels on the r unless u get a new swingarm, frame and some other stuff
  • Hi All,

I'm a new rider looking at the honda 150r vs. 150rb. I'm 5.4" and leaning toward the RB, but found an R for quite a bit less. Do you happen to know if it's possible to add larger wheels to the R? Would love to hear your opinion on this.. Thanks!!

Supermoto bikes just have a smaller and wider wheel than stock.

    frame, swingarm, suspension.

supermoto is a completely different story.
  • what you could do is get an rb, and if it's too tal, then buy smaller wheels and put the big ones back on when you grow into it

  • You must been on the tall side of 5'4... the 150R is perfect height for me at 5'4.

Have you ridden either of the 150R or 150RB? Let me know, I have yet to ride a 150RB.

  • R and RB?, i thought it was 150f and 150r one for racing and other for trail riding.
  • the rb has bigger wheels then the r, and the f is just a trail bike

So when you say your feet touched, I'm guessing they didn't fall flat on the ground?

  • o so there is and F but there are to race bike 150's one is a 150 race and the other is a 150 race big-wheel hence the "B".
  • As fiolek said,

    F - trail bike
    R - race bike
    RB - big-wheel race bike

the rb has a different suspension, swing arm, and wheels, probably a different triple clamp too. it may have a different frame.

the f sucks, dont buy it.

    Let me clear this up.

You CAN put R wheels on an RB. Nothing bad will happen.

You must replace the rear brake line - that's all.

The RB has a longer swingarm, a stiffer rear spring, a stiffer set of fork springs, a larger sprocket, larger wheels and tires, and a longer rear brake line.

If you put the R wheels on it and the shorter brake line, it will sit a couple inches lower. It will be stiff for a light rider, so you may want to consider swapping out the springs to get it right.

skip, i have tried it on my 80. the swingarm was too skinny for it to fit. the tire rubbed the fenders when i bottomed out. now that is on my 80 and that is what i am going by but i dont think the 150 would be a much different story.

Some bikes won't tolerate this, as is the case with your 80. The CRF150R/RB is a bit different... Honda kept the changes to a minumum, the plastic is the same, the frame and subrame are the same, and the axle spacing at the swingarm is the same, just a couple inches longer on the RB, and the shaft length on the shock is the same. Heck, the linkage is the same on both.
